Two Historicisms: Unpacking the Rules of Reproduction Debate

Abstract Knafo and Teschke’s provocative essay ‘Political Marxism the Rules of Reproduction Capitalism’ has prompted considerable debate. From a position critical support, present article intervenes in this debate by making three interrelated points. First, structuralist–historicist divide that Teschke identify is misleading should be reformulated. Though duality real, best understood as continuum between two kinds historicism: structural an institutional historicism. Second, contextualises intervention against backdrop their own intellectual development. Rather than returning to tradition’s historicist origins, they have fact stretched Political Marxism’s tendencies new limits. Third, concludes with revision critique concept market dependence.
